About Charles Laird

I am not a theologian or a lifelong academic. I am simply someone who became deeply interested in questions about Christianity, Scripture, and the early Church and found that I could not leave those questions unanswered.

That search led me into the writings of Clement of Rome and other Early Church Fathers, the development of the New Testament, the Council of Nicaea, and many of the claims that are commonly repeated about early Christianity. The more I studied, the more I wanted to go back to the earliest sources and see what the evidence actually showed.

I also spend time studying other religions and religious movements to understand what they actually teach in their own words, including Islam, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Hinduism, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, often referred to as LDS or Mormonism. My interest is not in caricaturing other beliefs, but in understanding them accurately and comparing their claims carefully.

That work eventually became Cold Case Clement of Rome and this website.

My goal is not to pretend I have every answer. It is to keep searching, keep asking questions, and keep following the evidence as honestly as I can. If something I believe does not hold up under examination, I want to know that too.

For me, this is ultimately a pursuit of truth—about Scripture, the early Church, competing religious claims, and the faith handed down from the beginning.
