The Early Church Fathers

Christianity originated in Judaea due to the preaching of the gospel by a man named Jesus from the small town of Bethlehem, which was under Roman control at the time. Jesus, known for his highly ethical teachings, died sacrificially while asking for forgiveness for his persecutors with the words, “forgive them for they know not what they do.” After his resurrection, his teachings were first followed by his 12 disciples and then by many others who came to believe in his message. These teachings quickly spread from city to city, reaching different regions and numerous countries over the following years. This rapid spread was due to the preaching of the good news, which led many to follow the risen Jesus and accept his free gift from God, which is salvation and eternal life.

Passion to discover the Truth

I won’t pretend to have as much detailed information as some of the good sites out there, but I do promise to be as accessible as possible when discussing the evidence about the Early Church Fathers. I aim to cover who they were, what practices they followed, what they taught, the scriptures and books they cited, the doctrines they supported, and the ones they rejected in the first 300 years or so after Jesus’ death. I believe it is crucial to pursue the truth persistently until all falsehoods are stripped away.

Apostolic Early Church Fathers

These men were contemporaries of the Apostles of Jesus. They not only walked alongside several of the Apostles but were also disciples of the original twelve themselves. They studied Biblical doctrines directly from many of the authors of the New Testament.

Ante-Nicene Early Church Fathers

Pre-Nicene church leaders, including bishops and deacons, played a pivotal role in combating emerging heresies within different urban centers of the early Christian world. Their primary objective was to safeguard the integrity of the faith by preserving and conveying the original teachings of Christianity. This endeavor involved a meticulous examination of scripture and oral tradition to discern authentic doctrine from theological deviations. These leaders sought to maintain doctrinal orthodoxy and unity amidst diverse theological interpretations and cultural influences. Their efforts laid the foundation for Christendom, solidifying core Christian beliefs and establishing a theological continuity that persists to this day.

JesusSaidIAmGod.com

This submission aims to present evidence from the Bible demonstrating that Jesus did, in fact, declare His divinity and accept worship, by stating, “I Am God” and accepting all worship. This analysis addresses the claims made by Muslims, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and other sects/cults that Jesus never explicitly stated, “I Am God; worship me.” By examining relevant scriptural passages, we can clarify Jesus’ self-identification and the implications for His followers.
